Xbox360 Wired Controller May Be Dead?... Help! Options

Hi,
Anyone can explain me what`s this (white circles lines encircle)
The controller with no more than 4-5 months, yesterday no
more works. No green lights from live button, no recognized by the PC.
The problem may be a voltage from usb. Try in another usb and other
PC and the problem is same.
The gamepad never has a strike.
Any info, thanks.

Not totally for certain - but have seen something like this happen before

Might not be the controller. Might actually be the console. Use a meter and check the voltages in the USB ports. You need to find 5 volt DC on one of the pins.

Worked on a console last week. Would power up - but controller acted dead. - Then it threw an error code. 3 RROD - 0003 secondary code.

Turns out the something on the bottom of the motherboard was grounding out on the cage. Once I took everything out of the cage & re-assembled on the floor. Code went away and controller would fully power.

So basically portions of that cage had to insulated.

If your controller is the same as the one in the picture there, then it's a Matrix version and is a little more than 4-5 months old.

The part you have circled is the Crystal (Xtal) and the solder connections for the USB cable. If the Xtal is missing then the controller will not work. The CL version has the Xtal on the back side of the board. The solder joints, going by that pic , are Ground, Ground, D+, D-, 5v.

Ok, im going to open the gamepad and see what version is.
May be, i put the wrong gamepad pcb pic.

Yes, the pic is wrong. This is the pcb of my gamepad:




So, i'm going to check the usb voltage. But, this is strange, because the gamepad runs always perfect, and
i test another gamepad (logitech dual action) in the same usb slot of the computer and the gamepad works
ok (no voltage usb problem).
Now, i remember before the gamepad "dead" play NFS2010 and in one moment the gamepad no work anymore
and the green light on and no way to put off pressing the live button.
In that moment i think, oh... is a game bug and then i shutdown the PC. The next day i start the pc and
the gamepad no work anymore, no lights, no present in the windows hardware.
The wire is ok, tried cm to cm moving and nothing happen.
Where is the problem?, the chip? i don't know.
Any help?

I'd say that U1 is bad, the larger black IC on the back there. I had one of those CL versions a few days ago that was dead, and it was that IC had died.

The only way you'll get a replacement part is from another CL version controller, so you're best off to just keep that one for parts and get yourself a new one.

What's IC?
I have a friend with the same control, with bad sticks (i dont know the problem) and may be i get
the IC.
How can i check the IC (voltage?) i dont know.

PD: May be monday im going to buy the black version of xbox360. Is the last version?

IC = Integrated Circuit. It's the 'brain' of the controller so to speak. You're not going to be able to test the IC without a scope, and you would need a hot air rework setup to replace it.

It would probably be easier for you to repair your friends controller with parts from yours, depending on what is wrong with it.

A new Black Wired controller should be the same CL version board.
