Hi, I recently purchased the xbit mod chip and am in the process of modding my xbox. However I have run into problems w/ the xbox not booting up off the chip. I get the standard red/green flashing light, which I read is a possible pogo pin issue. I since then have gone the whole route of cleaning my pogo pins and motherboad with rubbing alchohol and used an exacto knife to scrap out the D0 point. I've gone as far as removing the spacer even. Still no luck. I have flashed the chip successfully in every bank using every bios i can think of. Some to mention are X2 4977, cromwell, evox m7 etc. I know the flash is good as I can verify w/ the software. I know it may be possible that I have a bad chip, but I hope this is not the case as I have waited a while for this. Is it possible that I may have to venture into using the solder installaton. I hope not as my soldering skills are lacking a bit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah it definitely works without the chip as i booted up without chip and also in stealth mode with dip switch 4 on. I just tried using the evox M7 as i heard this is a bios that is supported by 1.4 & 1.5 verisions and I believe I have one of those versions as my manufacture date is aug 2003. Still no luck.

Still no luck, cleaned (scraped D0) again and ensured that pogo had good contact to D0 and all the lpt pins. Then flashed exectuer 2 4977 bios, confirmed that flash was read and matched, still unable to boot up, still getting the flashing green/red. Is there a particular bios I should try? Also my chip will flash green in conjunction with power light. Does this just mean that there is a valid bios on the chip? Please help this is my first xbit install, never had any problems with the matrix like this.

When you boot your xbox with your modchip enabled, is there a solid green light on Xbit board w/ the dip switches? You mentioned it was flashing but never solid?

I had a similar problem as you initially, it ended up that the modchip wasn't making contact w/ the d0 point, I ended up removing the spacer when I screwed the chip to the mainboard to make sure there was contact w/ d0. This is the most common problem.

Also make sure that your are using a bios in the correct partition of the flash, ie: a 256k bios in a 256k parition and a 1 meg bios in a 1 meg flash, people (including myself) have tried to boot the xbox after loading a 256k bios in a 1 meg partition.

Finally, if none of the above works you probably have a version 1.5 xbox. If your xbox is version 1.5, you may need to solder 1 point on the xbit. I am not sure if Xbit still requires you to do this with a 1.5 version. Can anyone confirm whether or not you need to solder a for a 1.5 xbox?

Let us know what happens.

I tried removing the spacer and no luck, and I verified that I had the correct bios in the correct partition. I belive I do have a version 1.5 cuz my video encoder is a Focus. If I need to solder a point on the xbit, can somebody give me some detals and or possible tutorials on this and confirm? Also does anyone now where I can get the executer2 Bios 4979 as I have searched for it on xbins and have not seen it, but I heard this bios supports the Focus video encoder (worth a shot). Thanks again.
