Aww man this is bullshit now... I was doing some reading, and a member over at TeamXbox has the same issue and he connected his xbox directly from the modem instead of a router and it worked??

Heres the quote,

QUOTE
OK..i moved the xbox and the TV into the room with the modem, and i used a short cable directly to the modem instead of the router, and it worked... The 50 foot cable works on other devices, but not the Xbox?

and heres the link to the thread, http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t...n+ethernet+port

So can it seriously just be a bad cable?? there is no way though. I was seriously using this cable just last night. Also- I plugged the cable in my computer and it works?

This is fustrating. But I did think about what the poster said above to buy a 360 mobo and replace the port. But is it the port or the chip?

Dunno.. I'll keep searching. sad.gif

That's rather odd since the 360 I have sitting 2 feet away from this one works just fine on the same cable.

Use a multimeter.

If it's not the fuse then it has to be the port or the chip. I'd just like to figure out how to determine which one it is to save from replacing both unecessarily.

im assuming the chip is U1B1 just left of the FB1B1 fuse?..

ahh then im thinking maybe just to be safe i will just use a wireless adaptor... but that would suck. to go and spend $100 bucks on a damn microsoft wireless adaptor... maybe my cheapness will make me jump and open it up and do it my self... with the big risk of bricking... sad.gif

pull up on the ethernet plug while its in the 360 and hold it there while you check for a connection, I have had at least 2 systems that the prongs didnt look funny but upon closer inspection, something was stuck in one of them up at the top where it goes back into the plastic, and wouldnt let it move all the way to the up most position.

Tried that already, no go. Maybe it'll work for someone else though.

Ok hello all, this is my first post on the forum and I just finished opening up my xbox for the first time as to find out why my xbl isnt working. I noticed in this post that im quoting that this man says his fuse checked out fine. If i may ask, what color is the fuse if its fine? Im looking at mine, and all the others around that exact fuse are brown/ tannish except that fuse FB181 which is black. Is that the normal color for this fuse? If not, what can i do to fix it? Sorry for all my questions, but im eager to get back online.

First post, picked up a used 360 with a borked ethernet port.

My question is, would a blown fuse show a link light on the router? My router shows a link light, that flashes a lot, but the 360 can't connect to the network.

Yes I've tried:
restarting the router
different cable
different port
auto and static IP

Here's my error codes
W:0000-000B
X:8001-1005
Y:0000-0000
Z:0000-0000
ID:FFFF-FFFF

For what it's worth, when the cable is unplugged:
W:0000-0000
X:8001-0015
Y:0000-0000
Z:0000-0000
ID:FFFF-FFFF
