on my xbox and boot them up, will that install anything besides the dashboard that the linux is using?

1: it depends on the exploit, different exploit do different things

2: most of them dont install anything, they just run then when you turn your xbox back off nothing has changed


so what are you trying to do with the exploit?

it's krazies exploit and before I do anything with it I just want to look around a bit. I guess I am still nervous from screwing up my old xbox when trying to get live working.

ive never used krayzies installer but it probably loads up a menu, then you will select install the dashbaord exploit, then it will install whatever dashbaord exploit is in the package, i suggest getting an ndure installer as i believe that is the latest/greatest xbe exploit

if you want to use Live set up/recover your account BEFORE installing your softmod

I already have my gamertag on my xbox? Am I suposed to do something else to prepare?

Also, do non modded xboxs have the evodash (i think that is what its called)? I was looking at my sister's box the other day through the ftp (just set up the FTP) andi t had the evodash. Could that have been because I transfered her stuff to the PC (being its stock?)

if the GT is on the box nothing more needs to be set up

no, unmodded boxes do not have evox on them, but if your FTPing it must be modded in some way since you cant FTP to unmodded boxes

well all i did was boot up the linux thing and setup the FTP via the boot up. I didn't install it. Would that still run a chance of getting banned on Live?

no, yo uonly get banned from Live for logging in with a hacked bios loaded or for breaking eeprom/HD marriage (changing hard drives)

now that you have ftp access, click the link in my sig, and follow the eeprom backup instructions.

After you install the softmod, as long as you coldboot a retail game, and don't use any modified gamesaves, you will not be banned.

I have read your tutorial and I have read the others that you have provided. I don't really understand the whole backing up of teh hard drive to a bootable cd.

Could someone please give me another explanation that isn't so complex for my small head? Could I just skip this step and use the normal back ups? It looks like Krazies installer comes with a rescue disk. Could I just burn that and throw that in if needed?

*EDIT* forget it, now my action replay isnt wanting to allow the saves to be transfered to the program or the memory card. I give up on soft modding.
