OK so i was quite board yesterday and it took me a while but i fugured out how to get music to play from my iPod (connected to my PC) to my XBMC

Thing you'll need:
Latest build of XBMC - (Usual Places)

Firefox - http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

The XBMC Fox extension - http://sourceforge.net/tracker/download.ph...amp;aid=1470650

For this to work you must have a newer build of XBMC and a network connection between the Xbox and the computer

An app call Anapod Explorer - Usual Places (Torrents)

Ok so firstly you have to downlaod and install Anapod Explorer which automatically installs a program called Anapod Xtremer. Next you have to connect your ipod and in the bottm left corner Right Click on Anapod Manager -> Go to Anapod MAnager Options...

Once in options go to Xtremeer HTTP Options -> Enable (Or Uncheck Disable) Xtremer ->Enable Remote Access -> Add a Remote Access Account (user:pass)

Next install XBMC Fox extension.
Go to Tools -> Extensions -> XBMC Fox -> Options, and add your Xbox's ip address

In your Firefox browser navigate to {http://your LAN computers ip:8046} and either search, or go to all tracks, find the song you want to listen to, Right Click on DL -> and Scroll down to Send to XBMC

The loading script should come up nad it will play the file.

Now this roughly works but it would be better if there was maybe a .py script that let me search my files or even a way to connect using the XBMC streaming capabilities. So if anyone could help me with taht it'd be great.

I hope this helps sum ppl, if you need help feel free to post a message.

Interesting, but I have a question...

Why go through all that work for streaming from your ipod when you can just stream the songs from itunes. I know itunes 7 doesn't work for shares but you could access the folder on your computer where your music is stored and stream that perfectly.

I guess what I mean is are there any advantages? I know this is cool and I'll probably test it, but is there anything that makes it worth streaming 1 song at a time?

This is a great option for those of us who manually manage our music and videos. I like the way I organize my music on my PC and find if I let iTunes do it everything gets all screwed up. If only there were a way to access the playlists we create on our iPod and just play those using xbmc. I second that scripting request!

Hey guys thnks for ur responses.
Firsty im not sure , but i'm pretty sure itunes daap streaming that used to be encorporated didn't support streaming from the actual ipod. if there is please correct me cause i have not come upon any tuts. that tell me how to do so.
Secondly i knw about streaming my files from a computer on my network i already have that all set up. I just wanted a second option of also being able to stream music right off my ipod to my XBMC and my home theater system.
If anyone has anymore questions just post em or PM me and i'll respond as quick as i can.

also if anyone knows any freeware programs that do what anapod explorer does pls inform me cuz i would rather be having a freeware program in my tut instead of telling ppl to go to the usual places

It does, when I setup my brother's itunes with XBMC his wife's ipod was connected and we were able to see/play the songs on her ipod.

Silentbob, you sure it wasn't just looking at the playlists from iTunes as opposed to the actual iPod? I'm dying for a solution here. It also seems that Anapod Explorer is the best option out there. I'm pretty sure they offer a 30 free trial so it's kinda freeware. happy.gif
