I have a falcon board that I jtagged to get the DVD key from it because the drive that came with the xbox didn't match. Got the DVD key and it showed it to be a liteon 74850. I found a spare drive and I injected the key and loaded ixtreme 3.0 02510C. Booted up the console and updated to newest dash and none of the games work original or backups. It makes alot of noise trying to read the disk, says disk unrecognized. I had a brand new laser for this drive so i put it on and still no go. I even tried putting original fw on it and no go. I've only had one game try to boot but came up with the disc dirty screen. I might be missing something but i don't have the dummy file, only the key from jtagging. What do I need to do? thanks in advanced

get a working drive, learn to make backups proper, or some combination of the 2.

more than just lasers die in drives. i have to assume you tried to make a 360 as cheap as possible and now you have gotten what you paid for. buy an entire drive from a reputable source and see what happens.

It is probably the spindle motor if it's making noises. Those are bout $10.

The other possibility is the worm drive that moves the laser head. Those are about $10.

Since you've already ordered a drive see if it works. If it does then to fix the old drive you could swap parts to see if it fixes the old drive. That way you don't have to guess and spend unnecessary money. Once you find out if it's the spindle or worm drive you'll know what to order. The spindle motor is really easy to swap out.

Great! Now you could swap parts and see what's wrong with the other drive and have a working spare.
