Game Save Help. Options

Ok so I backed up Prince of Persia: Two Thrones to hard drive and have been playing it from hard drive. The other day I started playing from my last save game, played for a few hours and saved continually up until the time I turned the machine off, but whenever I go to play it, it does not show any of that progress and any play and save now just goes back to the save from a few days ago so I can't get any further in the game unless I played it non stop until I finished the game and I dont have the patience.

This might not be the right forum for this but I thought I would ask.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Also there is no change if I am playing from the original game disk as opposed to hd backup.
