I'm sanding down my case to remove the previous paintjob from the box, so that i can redo it but i'm gonna add usb ports and make my dvd dongle internal, but its taken ages to get a really small area sanded down are there any cheat methods that won't melt my case with chemicals but still get the paint out of the small cracks. Failing to get it sanded down i might just buy a new case from ebay cos some of the screw holes are stripped and the case isn't in great condition after about 2 and a half years of abuse.

If I were you I would go with a new case and start fresh, if you did want to continue with this case I would recommend starting off with a smaller grit sandpaper to really get that paint off then move to a higher grade to smooth everything out, it will be a bit of work if you are planning to get into all the cracks.

I believe the best "cheat method" is: up down Y L R down down up put that in after you take the top off and it will become instantly sanded perfectly every single time!

All kidding aside, just have patience with it. Like CustomXbox.net said start with about 150 or 220 and work your way to at least 400 better yet 800. I just glazed the top of my box and wet sanded it with 2000 grit and its smoother than your moms butt... ohmy.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Update on the progress, i said i was going to buy a new case but I'm putting that off as a last resort now that i got my hands on some industrial strength Acetone. It only took me around 15 minutes to remove the paint from the top X and down the back and it doesn't leave huge scratches that need to be sanded out, plus it gets into all the cracks. Hopefully i can fully resurect this case. I'm not sure what to do about the holes that you screw the mobo into though some are a bit stripped ( too much messing with the xbox), i could cut them off and replace with the metal ones you get in pc cases, or i could fill them with either epoxy or bondo and then redrill them and tap them. Any sugestions for this are welcome.
