I have been looking all over based on a list of compatible drives with the ms28 and I cannot for the life of me find one that is currently on sale anywhere (newegg prefereably.)

Does anyone know of one on sale there or anywhere that has the mtk chipset?

Pretty much any lg or liteon or samsung drive should have the mtk chip.

If you use the xtreme boot maker to make your boot disk you shouldn't need another drive on another channel.

Are you saying that if I use xtreme boot maker I do not need a mtk cd/dvd drive in order to flash a ms28? I do have the correct sata card with the via chipset.

again, thanks I am obviously trying to get a grasp on all this.

Just making sure i understood you correctly. Everything I have read so far says you need that kind of cd/dvd drive plugged into the IDE and everything else unplugged off IDE...

if i use the xtreme boot loader do i still need to unplug all the IDE stuff?

response appreciated, and yes i know i need to read up on this more.

Thanks,

Personally, I like that method better - seems to give less issues. However, xtreme boot maker was created so you didn't need that and it apparently makes some other adjustments to the mtkflash program for ms28 drives.

I personally only used xtreme boot maker to make my usb bootable and then copied over all the mtkflash and x360sam files into the usb drive manually. If you do this too then you need the mtk based drive on one of the ide channels.

You don't need a CD/DVD drive connected in order to flash Samsung MS28.
