Microsoft use a USB adaptor to flash the "bad flashed" xbox360's, I know this since my friend works for the xbox360 division.

Prove it?

rolleyes.gif Wy prove it ?

Update file is maybe an presigned file, with only needed to be placed on Flash with Xbox 360 own sign.
then we only need to make our own Linux kernal "Update" with the correct sign for it ...

I need to get my Casio calculator ... laugh.gif
rolleyes.gif Maybe we need to get more info about those update files, replace things and change the Sign code so it stil works

What is the signature used in the flash? SHA-1 or 128bit?

hmm so it seems evident that "BK" doesn't stand for "Backup Kernel", but rather "Base Kernel"

this is very interesting

See here for historic related ramblings on this topic.

I still think the 'book code' speculation has legs justifying the transmission of only patch files and never a full replacement kernel.

this reminds me of psp when u have to downgrade a psp just get get homebrew back and free agmes and piracyand a hole bunch of crap until sony made sum modifications to the psp so it wont be able to do all this stuff so im guessing ms will be doing the same butthen again nothing almost is impossoble to ahck it just taes time biggrin.gif sleep.gif

You Speak of the TA-082 Mobo that replaced the Launch TA-081 Mobo, They just "hacked" the TA-082 and it is now downgradable from 2.71 HEN-D(sony 2.71 kernal running Homebrew Enabler Revison D), it just changes some Memorey ID shit then loads 1.50 on it, I actually just did this like 2 weeks ago 2 my TA-082, so Sonys "fix" has been beat down

Don't know if this is helpfull or indeed if it has been mentioned before. But the update must be automatically backed up onto a HD if connected. I found this out as I have 2 360s. I used the one upstairs to download new demo etc to the HD and then took the hardrive to the downstairs 360. When booting up it came up with the usual You must accept this update Crap.
Could be a usefull way to get any downgrader onto 360s as there are devices and software for backing up and inserting stuff to HD.

What happens when you take the next required update? woudn't MS see that you took it and now you nolonger have it? Seems like this could be a fast track to getting banned.

if they're just header files then it'd probably be a possibility to just send back a message saying its running the most up to date kernel. mind you if it tries to update w/o previous updates tehre could be unseen consequences, like permanently screwing shit up.

well i dunno about them "tracking" that you already received the update as they don't just come from XBL anywhoo right, you get them off game discs also. but i do see them noticing it strang when your kernal is the launch kernal, and your dashboard is a later version knowing many kernal changes have been done between right, may be grounds for banning machines
