So being the dumbass that I am I followed a guide to make my hard drive internal. I soldered all my power wires to the bottom of the hdd pinouts. Only thing is I used a 3.5in hdd soldering the 12v, 5v, and 3.3v wires all to the 5v pins underneath the Mobo. I turned it on ..... RROD..... turned it off and now it wont turn back on mad.gif Soooooo I have 5v standby at the psu input but I can't find it anywhere else. The closet one I tried to the main power supply is DB6G1 and C6G1.... any ideas on what I need to replace? I have spare MOBO's but this is my JTAG and I just can't see giving up. I have another JTAG but they are so hard to come by.

PLEASE HELP ME!@!@!@

Where can you get 12v at the front of the board on a Falcon board? I'd like to add a 2 or 3 pin header, but there doesn't seem to be a way on the newer boards?

Is there a 5V on the motherboard that is not 5V standby? so it only comes on when the xbox comes on?

Thanks. I need to know asap.

EDIT: Maybe I can use one of the USB ports as a 5V power source???? Because only my Aquabay sensor uses 5v so it is only one appliance. Hmmm.. This is getting interesting. I'm going to strip a USB cable and find out if it gives enough current for the whole thing to work!

EDIT 2: OK, USB 5v is also standby. I think I am going to try getting a resistor to get 12V stepped down to 5V for this so the 5V comes on when power goes to the 12V.

EDIT 3: Nope, USB's are also 5v standby.

Ooops, I've just realised I've had a full conversation with myself in one post. lol!

There are 5v switched sources shown. If it doesn't specifically say 5v Standby, then it's 5v Switched.

The USB ports are technically both, Standby when the 360 is off so the controllers still have power, then they switch to the regular 5v when the 360 is running.

You don't want to use a Resistor to drop the 12v to 5v, if you need to do that then use a Regulator.

The mobo in the pics are different to mine. My mobo is the falcon motherboard. I've been looking for some power source pics for the falcon but can't seem to find 'em. Would anyone know of any 5V switched power points on a falcon motherboard? Or am I not looking properly at RDC's pics?

The Falcon is similar to the Xenon for most all of the spots. Around the front/left area, U1F2 (Red spot) that's where I'd get the 5v Switched source from, it's the same on both boards.

Unplug the PSU and undo whatever you last did, let it sit a few minutes, then plug it up and see how it acts.

Were you soldering on it with the PSU plugged in?

I've undone everything and let it sit for about 2 hours. It's still no power at all. I've performed a power drain as well by holding the on button without the PSU plugged in. I have also tried a different power supply and when I soldered the points I had the PSU plugged out.

I don't understand what has caused this.

I had a spare 360 with rrod where the gpu solder points were bridged. I soldered the four points on to that and it worked fine. I think i must have done something to the mobo or something to make it fully Dead however I do still get 5v Standby on the motherboard.

I have another Elite ( Dont ask how many xboxes I have here! ) that's fully working so I am going to strip that down and put that into the soprano Elite Mod!

After this mod my mum made me promise her that I would sell every single electronic piece of thing that was xbox related including the screws because the whole house is full up with my crap! sad.gif

(However, regarding the water cooled slim I have a plan! wink.gif )

i did this and used it to power a old pc neon wich i put into my xbox right behind the two fans..
powerd it on and oh lookey rrod...
so i added a toggle switch.. when neon is off xbox starts and runs fine.. but when i switch neon on.. hdmi connection goes blank and then rrod..
so i thought it might be it is taking to much power.. nope it still happens even though i am running the neon from an external power supply...

what could the problem be??

My guess is your neon inverter is broadcasting a nasty EMP to the Hana chip.

Cant be..
ive tried another controller that is sensitive to sound allso.. still to no avail..
im thinking that the neon tube is making a current that are affecting some of the caps and ics near the neon..
thats what i think but how to fix it.... thats the problem..
since i had to cut the fan duct to put the neon in it will lose airflow if i remove it..

but im still gonna wrap the controler in chicken mesh and see what happens.

thx
