I don't know how to explain what I did without making me sound stupid, but I did a really stupid thing.



My buddy has an xbox with an executer 2 mod chip. He wanted it to boot to evox dashboard instead of the modified ms dashboard. It made sense at the time (in hindsight it was STUPID, LOL), but I renamed xboxdash.xbe to evoxdash.xbe, and vice~versa. Now it boots to a simplified MS dashboard. I have a complete backup of C, E, and F minus games. I also have a backup of the eeprom. All I need to do is rename the two files back to original. Does anyone know how I can do that?

you could have also used a boot disc to gain ftp access to the box to rename the files.

He is running an Xecuter 2.0 mod chip, and has his hdd unlocked. I think that was what caused my problems.

I understand what you are saying, but the recovery method I use wouldn't work because the HDD was unlocked. If it were locked, my recovery method would have worked and I could have renamed the files to their original names and all would have been fine. Instead, I had to boot it up in my PC with the xboxhd disk I built for my softmodded xbox, since the hdd was already unlocked, and all I had to do was rename two files. I have since taken measures to avoid this in the future.
