All,

Do I need the MS hard drive on a JTAG console or can I just put all files on an external USB HDD and go that route and run without the MS HDD?

Cheers

by all files I mean FSD.

Just wondered if the MS HDD was actually needed.

fsd can run from any attached storage device (native hdd, fat32 usb).

you could just plug a fat32 device in, format it via the dash (providing a max of 16gb "memory unit" on it), and then store all of your other files on it as well (leaving system update, TU's and profiles on the created "memory unit"). thus, no need for a ms hard drive.

you could, of course, place any size hard drive in a shell (or attach it directly to the mobo [requires soldering]) and use it on a xebuild machine.

Just out of curiosity can you run an SSD inside the M$ enclosure? Will it work?
