I was bored so I put a window in. I saw alot of people do it but one thing I never liked was when they made the cut closest to the front of the system, it wasnt contoured with the shape of the xbox, it was straight. Mine is a mice contoured line. Check it out from the begining:

This was the last Xbox mod I did. I dont know if I will keep modding, but I will still check out the awesome stuff here. I might get some LEDs and a momentary switch to make them go on when the tray is open, and off when its closed. I have a Hitachi drive so I took the whole top off and just put a plain piece of plexi glass on. It makes a grinding noise for like 5 min but then it goes away( I have no clue what it is). I dont care about the noise because I have DVD2Xbox anyway so I just use my hdd for games(only 100gb though).

ok, well the winodw looks nice, clean. but been done a million billion times the same shape, by no means original. ur discs make a grinding noise becase nothing is holding them in when the drives is closed. u need the spindle from ur original drive to hold it in place..that's gonna make things go tits up.

Plexi glass is weird about scratches, you cant see those in person, the flash from the camera brings them out. I jsut used a razor for cutting. I didnt have cutting discs for my dremel so I just got out a razor and traced my lines over and over(I pushed hard because I didnt want to wait). After I cut a hole , I put a steak knife in it and cut the rest of the window out. I had the spindle thing in on my first DVD cover but it didnt do anything at all so I just chucked that piece, now I have a full window. I would say that 95% of the time I dont use my drive, and when I do its for playing on XBL, I use XBC because its free and I can swear at the little kiddies and the 35 year old guys that live in their mom's basement( biggrin.gif ).

I forgot to mention before, this is really my first case mod, unless you count the jewel hole as a case mod.

hahahaha, i know a 26 year old who lives with his parents, his grandmother, a cat, and a ferret. He gets like fastfood everyday and weighs like 300 pounds. And he stills goes to school. hahahahaha

Anyways, thats a very nice cut. I wish i did mine that way.. well mines basically the same except i didnt curve it around the jewel like you did.

But yea, nice job.

hahaha... yea. I always play halo 2 with him though... well.. its more like he always joins me and my friends while were on halo 2... Isnt kind of weird that a 26 year-old's only "friends" are 15 year-olds that live across the country??? [cough] petafile [/cough]

hahaha

But anyways, you need that spindle dealy on the dvd drive, or else your dvd drive is pointless...
