Weird Controller Issues Options

recently i had one of my controllers analogs and a trigger acting up, so i replaced both of em and they worked great when i played a few games in gears 3, the weird part is that when im on the dashboard my left trigger doesn't respond and when my hold my left analog stick in any direction it also doesn't respond, again only on the dashboard, not really a big deal but id like to know what the problem may be if anyone can drop some knowledge on me, thanks in advance
