Thought I should post my problem and solution here for anyone that may run into the same problem.

I have the last "usual places" build of XBMC (xbmc-2005-02-01) installed in my (ini correctly set) applications directory: e:/apps/

The folder that XBMC lives in is named: xbmc-2005-02-01

I wanted to have another copy that is kept up to date by the YuYu scripts from the current CVS on a daily basis. So I set it up to rename the internal name of the xbe from "Xbox Media Center" to "Xbox Media Center CVS" so that it will show up in the apps menu different from the stable build version.

The first time I tried this I transfered the files into e:/apps/xbmc-2005-02-21 and hit "Y" on the applications menu to refresh the list and show the additional XBMC (CVS Version) that I just added, but it crashed and rebooted UIX. Since then every time I went into the applications menu it rebooted itself.

I completely deleted all cache files found in UDATA/00ffeeff00/CACHE/... then even tried deleting the entire game save from UDATA. Both attempts failed to resolve the problem which leads me to believe that it was NOT just a simple fluke corruption of the cache file when I refreshed the list, but an actual bug in how the cache file is written.

The solution was to delete the XBMC that I added all together. As soon as it was not in the apps directory along side the other version, the applications menu loaded just fine.

How can I fix this so that I can have a daily CVS build and a stable build of XBMC in the same applications menu?

have you tried simply using names from folders instead of xbe's for that apps menu ?

No I have not... since that ouwld require me going through and renaming all of my folders for everything since currently I am using the XBE insternal name.

You say this because you believe the problem is in the two xbe's having the same internal name? If that is why, then I can tell you that I changed the internal names of the xbe's so they do not match, so that should not be causing the problem.

I'm not entirely sue if this is the answer you're looking for, but I use an XBE renamer to rename the stable build on my xbox so that it would show up in the menu as XBMC yyyy-mm-dd each time I update it. I use XBE Renamer which can be gotten here :

http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/~xbox/xbox-scene..._Renamer0.8.zip

and then I just let the CVS weekly build stay 'as is'.

Since I don't use UIX (I use AVA and EvoX) I have no idea if this would fix your problem, but it may smile.gif .

Well currently that is what I tried. I renamed the internal name of the XBE (used hex editor) then copied it to the apps dir along side the regular one. The app folder names where named according to date.
