Not wanting to confuse matters but i did say i'd pass you Heimdall's info. It may not be of help as Lordvader has posted you some info.
This info was for my old 1.4 which had a Winbond on board, my 1.4 motherboard is now dead so i did not manage to run through the tutorial. I have recently used the EvoX dashboard approach to TSP flash my new 1.2/1.3 Xbox, it worked faultlessly. I managed to flash both Ind 5003 and X2.4981 to a Hynix chip. I was actually shocked at how easy it was with the EvoX dashboard.
From Heimdall: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK.
The easiest way to TSOP is to softmod first. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true! It's not the quickest method, but it only adds about 5 minutes to the process, and it's worth it because it's reliable. It also works without the need for burning DVDs or CDs......!!!!!! I've broken this into sections.
1. Get The Files
Everything you'll need is available on Xbins:
- Krayzie 1.1.1 gamesave - EvolutionX dashboard 3935 - Your preferred BIOS, plus the tools to configure it if you go for X2.4981 or Evox M8+ (or M7)
If your current MS dash isn't 5960 then you'll also need to update your current dash to make the softmod work, in which case let me know and I'll talk you through that. Let's assume that it is 5960 for the time being.......
2. Softmod The Xboxa
Load the gamesaves (there are two for Splinter Cell, you need both) onto your Xbox hard drive using the MS dash. Run Splinter cell, load the linux profile, the exploit will trigger. Follow the instructions to softmod the Xbox. Copy the backups from your Xbox to your PC when it prompts you to. Again, while it may seem perverse (given that you want to use EvolutionX dash to do the flashing), install UnleashX as a dash. The reason is that UnleashX has a file manager, while Evox doesn't, and you need a file manager.
3. Configure The BIOS
I can't stress enough that you need to make sure you use a 256k BIOS that works on a 1.4 Xbox, because anything else will leave you needing a chip. For iND.BIOS.5003 and X2.4981 you're safe with a 1.4, but for Evox M8 you have to use the version that DOESN'T have 1.6 in the filename. The copy I got from Xbins is EvolutionX M8plus Bios.rar, and the BIOS you need is M8plus.bin, NOT M8plus_16.bin.
Now, because you're having trouble burning DVDs you'll have to take a bit of care with the next step. Other than the warning above, nothing you do should brick your Xbox, you'll just have to rerun the gamesave exploit to get access to fix any problems. Essentially you need to configure your BIOS so it knows where to load your dash from. The softmod has already put the UnleashX dash at E:\Dashboard\default.xbe, so select that as your first dash. For iND-BIOS.5003 you just edit the config file:
DASH1=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\dashboard\default.xbe
For X2.4981 and Evox M8+ you run the config tool, load the BIOS, and edit "Boot Partitions And Executables" to point
to E:\Dashboard\default.xbe as the first dash. Also select your preferred disk configuration - for one large F partition select "Partition 6 Takes Rest Of The Drive", for F and G select "Partition 6 Takes up to 137GB / Partition 7 Takes Rest". Also uncheck the "DVD Drive Check" box, then save the BIOS - give it a sensible name so you can find it in the next step!.
If you want to use a different dash you just install that wherever you want on your hard disk, and change the BIOS configuration to point to that instead of UnleashX. It's also worth having a fallback dash - I use DASH2=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\Dashboard\EvolutionX\evoxdash.xbe
(E:\Dashboard\EvolutionX\evoxdash.xbe)
because I leave Evox on all my Xboxes after step 4.
4. Put The Flashing Files Onto The Xbox
Create a directory on the E drive to put the Evox dashboard in - mine's in E:\Dashboard\EvolutionX\. Use ftp to copy all of the Evox dash files and directories into that directory. Put your chosen 256k BIOS into the E:\Dashboard\EvolutionX\BIOS directory on your Xbox. If you are using iND-BIOS.5003 select either the .06 version or the .67 version, depending on whether you want F only, or F and G.
5. Flash The Xbox
Now you're in the home straight. Use the UnleashX file manager to run the evoxdash.xbe you just installed - E:\Dashboard\EvolutionX\evoxdash.xbe. Select System Utils - Flash BIOS, scroll down to your BIOS, and select it with A, and press Y to flash.
When it's done flashing the Xbox will shutdown, and when you reboot it will load your flashed BIOS, and UnleashX will load - but this time the splash screen will be different, and the Xbox LED will remain green.
6. Things That Might Go Wrong....
I can only think of two things that might go wrong.
A. You might have a Winbond TSOP, in which case you'll need modified steps 4 and 5.
B. You might have a flash type that's not in the standard evox.ini, in which case you'll get this error message:
Manufacturers ID 09 Device ID 00 !! Flash Not Writeable !!
To fix that you just paste this into your evox.ini on top of the existing Flash section:
Flash = 0x04BA,"ALX2+ R3 FLASH",0x40000 Flash = 0x01b0,"AMD Am29F002BT/NBT",0x40000 Flash = 0x0134,"AMD Am29F002BB/NBB",0x40000 Flash = 0x0151,"AMD Am29F200BT",0x40000 Flash = 0x0157,"AMD
