A widget is just a small app ran on the desktop (basicly just JavaScript and XML packed into one file, then launched through a java runtime engine.), it all started with Konfabulator (now the Yahoo widget engine). After Konfabulator was released, widgets were adopted to the Mac OS and then more apps were released to do the same thing on Windows.
The reason i use the Yahoo engine is that samurize crashes, a lot, and because on samurize all the widgets are ran through one engine, if one goes, they all go. But with the yahoo engine it runs multiple intances.
Its true to say that samurize can do alot and is highly customizable, but the YWE is more stable and the widgets just look much better.

THAT'S what a widget is.
Just go to Google and search for Yahoo and Widget. You get a bunch standard and can download SO many more.
Anyone notice that Photobucket is slow as dirt lately?????
There's also an Xbox Live Friends Widget out there. VERY cool. You can't see it on my desktop b/c I can't at this moment remember what email and password I signed up for Live with, I have to check

A little cleaner, HSD, you think???

I know I like it more. I'm not disgusted when I sit down.
