This was released awhile back, around the time of last E3, and Square-enix also said that due to high demand a remake of FF7 for PS3 could be on its way.

I don't get why people clap at the end. It's CG. It's a movie, and pretty much has nada to do with the PS3. The video in the beginning of FF7 for PS1 looked damn good. And it was CG. ENTIRELY. Gameplay begins about 2 seconds after they stopped the video. Nothing there at all.

The Metal Gear Solid video linked above shows real-time performance of the same trailer that everyone previously insisted was "pre-rendered". I'd say it's pretty much on par with the SquareEnix demo.
Technical demonstrations are demonstrations of product capabilities, not pre-rendered video. Besides, the demo was presented by SquareEnix, not Sony. In the end, everyone will know for sure after the release.
