I have a DVD backup I'm trying to get on my Xbox. Its in .img format, and I can open it and get all the VIDEO_TS files and everything, but I have no idea if I should just put the .img on the Xbox via FTP or do something with the VIDEO_TS files, since this is my first time. Advice?

Keep movies on backup. The xbox hard drive should pretty much only be used for storing games. Not movies. I don't even think there's an xbox app out there that will play movies from the xbox HD. Easiest way is to just keep it on disc.

if you must keep movies on your xbox HD back them up with dvd2xbox, then you can use XBMC to play the .vobs

i known this is slightly off topic

does anyone know of a decent program that allows you to easily backup (ie: a couple of clicks) a dvd movie to one of the popular video formats that can be played through xbmc? i knows these programs are out there but the are so many.

also does anyone know of any such programs that are in developement for the xbox (.xbe apps) or isnt the xbox powerful enough for encoding things like divx.

FLAME PROOFING: i am in no way implying that the xbox is not a powerful piece of kit.
