QUOTE(pctek @ Dec 13 2012, 04:15 AM) *

last night I crossed flashed and so far it was successful no errors or anything. Its a HP dvd1270 this is on the front plate of the drive, but when I went to device manager before flashing it I think that where I went cant remember now, anyways it had a "t" after the numbers so like this: hp dvd1270t

So anyways I say flock it Im just gonna flash it with the ihas 124b firmware and see what happens and it all was a success no errors or stopping during flashing progress. Anyone know for sure this 1270t drive infact is a rebadged ihas? thanks

OK so i have the memorex dvd dl and I whenever trying to burn gow3 xgd3 it kept stopping around 50% with i/o error. So I flash the ihas 124b drive with that media code speed edit, to make the drive think the memorex are the vermatin or what ever it does, so I can burn at 2.4x.

So i did this flash and finally gow3 burn went successfully 100% no errors, so i pop in the phat Hitachi flashed 59 360 and everything was beautifully it read it and loaded it it seem little tad slow or the drive was struggling a little maybe but..... ok so i fire up a new campaign and the intro cut scene when that lady starts talking to marcus all the in-game textures are not loaded its like washed out.

Anyone know whats up, do i need to tweak some settings in imgburn for burning process or what? Heres the guide and imgburn settings i used to burn this game thanks

Has anyone else tried the Sony Optiarc drive?

Looking for an alternative for the ihas drives for my friend.

Also does the ASUS DRW-24B3ST still work? Are the ones they selling now the correct firmware revision or do you have to find an older one?

DH-16ABSH-HT2 From January 2012, using same tried and true method for 75+ drives now, causes it to blink incessantly and not eject. stock fw is YHDF.
I can flash back and run convert with eeprom utility to repair it back to stock, but what's the fun in that?

PS: 2011 and earlier, perfect.

You do have other options other than the Sony Optiarc, you could use the recently released payload tool by teamX. Below is a link to the drives confirmed working/not working so far. There may be other drives that work its worth doing a search to find out.

I haven't used the Payload tool myself as i have an ihas drive but i will give it a try with my pioneer 219 the next time i burn an XG3 backup and post the results.
