I have my 360 hooked up to my Viewsonic 19" CRT via VGA cable, and
I've taken it to 2 of my buddies houses that have HDTV's.
The TV's rock and are great models, no doubt about it, and the size of the screens are great....

But why am I more impressed with the graphical output of my VGA monitor?
I think the games look MUCH better on my CRT. The one downside... the size of the tube.

Is this normal thinking or am I the only one?

A CRT by its very nature will give you a crisper, brighter image with more contrast.

If you could get 32" HD CRTs easily I'd have one of them.

Well, they're only going to get harder to find. Sony has stopped production of all CRT screens, as have other manufacturers. It seems that DLP is becoming the de-facto standard for moderately-priced screens.

Well, what is the 360 outputting in? Have you experimented with both 720p and 1080i on the TVs?
But yeah, I will certainly agree that a good CRT will look better than a good plasma or DLP.

A TV is a TV, the whole thing about being the most expensive being the best is crap, i've had, seen and used Sony Bravias worth more than £2000, but i by far prefer the Samsungs at about £750.
