I softmodded my box what seems like a long time ago. I used the Splintercell game save.

When I look at the Evox dashboard it says "EvolutionX V+393" in the bottom right corner, so I assume that it is the version number.

When I go to the actual Softmod dashboard it says it's SID V.

My power button stopped functioning some time back. The box powers up fine with the eject button and shuts down fine from inside any dashboard. But, aside making a nice buttony hardware noise when I push it, the power button doesn't work at all. It did work before the softmod, but I'm not certain when it stopped.

Now, I would like to trouble shoot by uninstalling my softmod and seeing if it works, however there are a few obstacles and I want to ask some guidance and a few questions:

1. Does anyone think it's possible that this is a problem with the mod and not the hardware?

2. I can't find my AR cable or card, can I just FTP the MechAssault game save over to the appropriate folders? (I apparently no longer have the Splintercell disc, so I have to go with MA.)

3. Is it possible for me to update my softmod without actually uninstalling the old one? Could I just go about the softmod install and it would overwrite the old one? This would at least let me know that my saved game transfer worked before I uninstalled the softmod. But would it work cleanly?

4. Could anyone imagine a circumstance where it was a harwdare problem that I could remedy? (I've never actually cracked open this machine, which probably makes it the only virgin electronic device in my home.)

TIA for any responses.

I'm almost certain that this is a hardware problem, and completely unrelated to your softmod, since the same thing happened to my Xbox a few months ago (mine is chipped). Check out this page, I think it should help you out a lot (it helped me find out I needed another motherboard).
