1/3/06 As of this morning, January 3rd, 2006, Sony again informed GameSHOUT that the Sony PS3 will be released in May 2006, and that the recent reports of a delay are pure "myths".

During the weekend, many sites and news agencies have reported that the Sony PlayStation 3 is full of bugs, and that the game machine is not ready for the Spring 2006 launch. However, please keep in mind that these are pure speculations.

1/9/06 From what we've gathered, the PlayStation 3 will launch in later summer 2006 in Japan, following a significant campaign pressing the connectivity features between the home console and the PSP. Sony will ignore the Xbox 360, relegating to a different, older generation of home console thus justifying your further investment in game-playing machinery.

Delaying the launch is going to kill them, MS now has a bigger chance to beat out the ps3. They got all this time to make new accessories, and make the 360 alot better

Better to have the product delay than rush, they should just push it back for Christmas release for USA. There's a lot of games to hold Sony fans down until then. Only downside is blueray being delay and a late start into the media war is not smart.

I say delay it if bugginess is invovled. At least they are not like M$ and release what ever shit they have at the time, and let the people bug test it for them. F@cking M$ grr.gif

Mine, and all the people I know, have not had one problem with their console. You hear the people who complain, not usually the people who are happy.

Ok, I'm not a MS fanboy by any stretch, but you have the option of reading the reviews, and watching the bugs pop up and get crushed as they always do. By now, everyone should understand that buying a new MS os/product within the first few months of its lifespan means you may have to deal with a few bugs. They also know that MS will eventually correct those bugs. Unlike PlayStation who put out the same POS DVD drive in every one of their systems giving it an active lifespan of about 2 years of movie watching/game playing and then it started f'n up. Everyone I know has had to buy a second PS2.

You have the option of waiting on a MS product, or being an early odopter and being on the cutting edge of technology. Why should I not be able to obtain something earlier if I am willing to deal with what i know will be MS's standard growing pains? Do you think it is just MS that has this problem? Think about just about any new chipset that hits the market. Companies can''t possibly afford 100,000 product testers.

You shouldn't believe all you read on the internet. The PS2 does not have the same dvd drives through all the regular size PS2 machines. The lasers alone have 4 different varieties.
Its no different to all manufacturers DVD drives give problems after time and always will its not limited to Sony

True, i have 2 ps2's 1 of them i've had since aroudn launch still works fine, and the other i bought it last year still works fine. so it depends on the persona nd how you use it and where you use it. Things wear over time. seems sony is trying to put alot into their system this time around, i'm not saying they haven't before, but now there are even talks about a sony online service that can rival xbox live. if they need to take any longer, it's understandable just not too long. and about x360 conquering the market since people have to wait for the ps3. i don't see that happening since first of all it's not that popular in japan. second of all i know alot of peopel who see the x360 think it's awesome but are still going to wait for the ps3. if ps3 has killer launch titles, then i don't think MS coming out a year before them is really gonna put a damper in their sales. cuz we all at least know. it will sell out, and there will be a shortage. same with the nintendo revolution it happens. and then after certain periods of time we'll see which one starts raking it in nicely.

I'm an Xbox junkie all the way, take it over the PS3 anyday, but I would gladly admit that M$ shouldn't have thrown the 360 out so soon just to get Holiday sales. That wasn't fair to the customers. But, that's business.

Now for the PS3, I understand why they are holding back the system because of supposed bugs. But, I believe Sony is playing the whole mysterious bit a little high. I mean, not even a true release date...Wal-Mart has just put up ads on their site for it...No ads...No test-playing at any tech-shows...I may not like PS3, but I would like to be able to hear a REAL review of it. I'm holding out on buying next-gen stuff until I find out more about PS3, so I may be waiting for quite a long time....
