hey guys!

My Xbox360phat is NOT working correctly. The usb ports are all jacked up. I'm 100% sure that is the problem.

-When I turn the console on with audio/video cables, there is NO SOUND OR VIDEO. When I UNPLUG the audio/video cables I get 4 red rings.. Also, If I wiggle the copper in the usb port the console will turn off.
-Also, none of my wireless controllers work!

This is a picture of my usb port ->IPB Image

In what day should I rearrange the copper in the usb? Should I push them all inward? Should I push them right, away from the dvd drive? Should I push them left, TOWARDS the dvd drive?

NOTE- I TRIED TO ONLY EDIT MY ORIGINAL POST... I HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT POSTED 3! ohmy.gif sorry!

4 red rings is normal if you unplug the av cable. The console shuts off if you wiggle the metal pins in the USB port because they touch the side or each other and short to ground.

Get a needle nose pliers and grab each of those pins one by one and twist them/rock them back and forth until they snap off at the base. Or use a small flat head screwdriver to position them so they are not touching any other metal or each other.

Please do all of that with your console off. It's low voltage but it is still voltage.

If your brave enough you could take the xbox apart pull the board from the cage and if you have some skills with a soldering iron you could remove the port all together and put in a new on from another xbox. But you do need some skills and a decent iron.

it should work again if you replace the usb ports, thats pretty much the only option for it, unless you can live with one usb.

Replace the USB post, You need a good iron that can go up to about 480°C though, you will struggle to do it with a 30w iron

u can use a good pair of tweezers and just pull those leads away from the metal sidewalls of the port. after that, fill the hole with hot glue. replacing ports on teh 360 is possible, but is really hard.
