I have hooked up my DVD to my computer (dell 4700 with 2 sata), booted to a startup disk, and ran the command line tool to back it up. i have tried two different settings in my bios, one for native sata control, and the combination for older os's. the program gives me 4 options, ide 1 and 2, and depending on how i have it set, the other to sata 1 and 2 (if it's in combination, it gives me a kind of ide type port) after i select with sata port it is, the program just sits there, and does nothing. am i doing something wrong or am i not letting it wait long enough? i waited about 2 mins and nothing happened. i have to ctrl break out of it. any help would be nice.

added email notification

one quick note, i haven't tried the other version of this software for the NF4.... i might try that after work.

Sounds like your SATA chipset is not supported by mtkflash, look in device manager and/or locate the chip on your motherboard and post the specs...

i ran intel's chipset identification untill, and it says i have the ICH6, which shows it's compatible... how long does this take? am i just not waiting long enough? what should it show on the screen? also, i didn't see if it was detected under bios... going to mess with it in a few.

ok, here's what i've got.

the drive is being detected under bios.

my bios has two different modes for SATA. Normal (native) and combination (of os's that don't support SATA)

i have tried both settings, and here's what mktflash gives me as options

NORMAL

1. IDE
2. IDE
3. ICH6P Pri Master
4. ICH6P Pri Slave

COMBINATION
1. ide
2. ide
3. IDE Sec Master
4. IDE Sec Slave

I have tried both modes, i have tried both 3 and 4, with both my HDD plugged in, and without it plugged in. When i choose the option, it says Port *** Master/Slave ** and it just sits there. and nothing happens.... any ideas?
