Flashing Hitachi 0078 That Has Already Been Flashed Options

Hi let me try and explain my problem, my brother in-law gave me his old xbox 360 that has the Hitatchi LG 0078 drive, it has already been flashed but with what firmware i dont know, now what i want to do is get Ixtreme v1.4 or higher as some of the games i have download and burned require this, so I found a video tutorial and got myself a sata card, so got the xbox 360 into mode B ok and got it showing in windows so when to use the firmware toolbox to first create a GDR dump of the orig firmware and but when I then tried to patch that it did not work, now is this because am trying to patch a firmware that is not Ixtreme with a Itreme patch.

is there anyone who can help me with this and maybe put me on the right track of what I need to do?

You don't need your drive to be ixtreme in order to play games ripped to ixtreme standard. Therefore as long as you've ripped your games correctly you won't have a problem.

am sure you know what your talking about but am sure either your confused about what i mean or am confused about what you mean. let me give you an example I download two games and run them both through software called abg360 that checks the iso and one passes all the tests and the other tells me it will run on ONLY Ixtreme 1.4 or highter, and after testing both games on my 360 only the one that passed all the tets worked, meaning that I DO need Ixtreme 1.4 or higher to run the other?

as for ripping or anything else. i dont rip any games, i download and burn. but only burn after testing the ISO to see if it says I need Ixtreme 1.4 or higher, now the problem i have is some of the games I want to require this and thats why I want to flash my drive with Ixtreme with 1.4 as it obviously does not have it

You obviously have no comprehension that you won't get any support here if you're downloading your games!

ok but I dont have the origonal firmware, can I download a firmware then add my key to it and then flash it to the drive. and thanks vauxfan for the info.

see Martinchris23 was not so hard now was it, maybe you should take lessons from Vaux.

I didn't see anything wrong with the post really, you wasn't asking for direct help for the games and you knew what you needed to do, just not how to do it

I think your right lol, they may want moderators but certainly NOT HITLERS that start spouting the rules whey they dont have any reference to the question. Moderators are usually more willing to try and help. so he would make a bad one, Mr Anti Piracy that mods XBOX 360'S for money.

Actually no - just trying to enforce the rules of the site in the absence of a moderator! Some people think nothing of stealing games and wanting help with them. Rip your own games and you choose how to patch them (I stated as such above). What firmware you have is irrelevent when you consider this, so it may not have been direct help but had they not been stolen it wouldn't have been an issue.

You'll find that people who have a hard time reading stuff will miss most things. The instructions for reflashing a Hitachi are firmly found in the readme which accompanies DVD Firmware Toolbox. It's not hard to read the file and learn for yourself.

You don't need to flash iXtreme firmware to your drive to play iXtreme games - that's the bottom line. I'd already stated as such. You do however need to have iXtreme patched games if you have iXtreme firmware. It's not a two way thing.

and neardark - for the record, modding a 360 is not illegal. I'm not 100% against piracy either, but I'm smart enough to know where the best places to talk about such topics. This isn't one of them.
