Hey guys I now have the correct firmware. Where will I get a guide on how to actually do the firmware hack.

Hey guys I am using Geebees Guide Version 40 tutorial from here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=523406

It says that I need to get my drive in to Mode B.

But there are many ways to do this on his tutorial.

here are the different ways

Slax CD :
100% (if your SATA chipset is compatible) 0% (If chipset isn’t compatible)

Crossed Wires or 1k Resistor Method:
100% ALWAYS WORKS. If it doesn’t for you, you are doing it wrong. Some risk.

HotSwap:
100% but you need a 360 Samsung drive or SATA DVD-ROM

Xecuter Connectivity Kit:
100% but expensive ;-)

What do you guys recommend.

Also the tutorial I am using talks about this ofrmware OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 and I am using ixtreme 1.2rev2

Cheers

well first off all 4 options you listed are perfectly fine.. what you should be doing is looking at the required tools required to do the flash. once you know what you have you can then see what your real options are. start with a sata chipset.

does your mobo have an onboard sata chipset?

you can try a number of ways.

that you will have to research on your own.

msinfo32 is one way.

open up your cpu case and look at the physical mobo usually beside the sata connectors there is a chip with markings on it.

if that doesnt help you can look at the board in the moddle for the model type. or you can look under the bottom of the last pci slot on most boards to see the model type there as well.

once you have the model type. you can go look it up on the mobo manufactuer website and find out there by readiing what it has.. or downloading the product manual and reading the product features in there as well.

once you know what chipset you have i would suggest reading a tutorial on modding the xbox. gee and textbooks are both very good. and both have videos as well.

good luck
