I am thinking of modding my phat xbox, at the same time as doing the x clamps and a new heatsink, am thinking of putting two 60mm fans directly above the CPU and GPU, one sucking in and one blowing out. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with this mod and can point me to any links concerning wiring. Thanks, Scott.

From my experience, if the case is open, no dvd drive. you will need air blowing on the gpu at an angle works best. Adapting to the loudness of a 12v fan mod for the stock fans would be my best advice there as well.
ive seen temps on an xbox at 40 and even 30 Celsius max res with these few adjustments. Believe me i have overcome quite a few stubborn rrod cases simply by keeping the MoBo cool.
(NOT TO MENTION DO NOT JUST BLOW AIR DIRECTLY DOWN ON THE CPU HEATSINK) more of an angle towards the rear of the xbox works best in this situation.
You can play around with the fans to have a room temp xbox if you go at it long enough.
