Nope. Don't have a HD TV, so no reason for one right now. Although the 8 free HD movies and player from amazon is tempting. Almost time for a new tv anyways.

Well, I think the results of this unbiased poll clearly show who the winner in the format war is: DVD.

Apart from that, this poll should have had options for standalone BR, or a PS3.

Haha, they might as well make a Xbox 360 vs PS3 poll aswell. But thats no competition!

I just got the XBox360 HD DVD add on player. It's nice to be able to compare side by side the quality of HD vs DVD (and my TV isn't even a really nice HDTV, but the results are astoundingly different) The movie 300 has HD-DVD on one side and standard DVD on the other and I watched a fight scene in HD and then fliped the disk over to HD and it was like the difference between night and day!

Also I plan to backup my HD DVD collection with HD WMVs and stream them to my 360 when I want to watch them.

Right now the process for converting/transcoding is a little messy and you REALLY need to know what you're doing, but it can be done. And someday someone will make an all-in-one program that's one click away from what you want. But for now people have to do it "the hard way"

Definently, then we could see if people had bought standalone players or only have them with their PS3.

haha, I go outside when the sun's out... otherwise I'm downstairs enjoying the HD-DVD via a 360 add-on without the glare through the windows.

the 360's drive is perfect for the price, not sure about the quality compared to the newer 2G and 3G toshiba players with all their fancy pants features... oh well, at least I get 1080, I can't tell the difference between i and p on a tv set less than 100 inches...

No, it's not true. At least not in my eyes, and I seem to be very picky sometimes.

I have a Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on. I got it for $150 and i now have five movies for it and five more being shipped to my house. I don't regret it.

How about another option for the poll "No, but I'd buy one for my 360 if it was cheaper".

No, but I'd buy a standalone if it was cheaper too.

its essentially free when you factor in all the free movies it comes with. i paid 180 shipped for the player with 8 free movies. thats essentially $20 each for the movies, and another $20 for the player itself.
