Sony 52" XBR5

or

Samsung 52" LNT5271F

Im pretty sure about getting the Samsung, just wondering if anyone has either TV and can comment, I was at best buy checking them out the past few days and was watching some bluray scenes on the samsung and it looked amazing. The picture looked almost 3d and very realistic.

Any opinions?

I LOVE SAMSUNG. Personally, I have heard that Samsung has better quality pictures and tv's than the other brands. Good luck deciding on this though.

You heard incorrectly.
This particular Model I have no experience of so can not comment.
Experience of the Brands and running ASC for both manufacturers, I have found Sony is higher quality and more reliable.

Well, even though I have heard wrong, I would still prefer Samsung over Sony any day of the week, even though I'm usually a Sony guy.

That's fine many people buy Samsung TV sets. I repair them in and out of warranty which is why I advised against the brand. Your advice seemed to be based on here say.

Well not entirely. I have gone to electronics stores and compared the Samsung with other models of LCD tv's in it's class, and to ME, the Samsung looks like it has the better picture. I guess it depends on which cables you use to feed the signal to the tv. Plus at the electronics stores, teh signal is being split into each tv, not focused just on ONE certain tv, which may or may not decrease the picture quality, I dunno. I still like Samsung though.

Manufacturers and store operators set the TV to look best in the store. you wont know which one is best until you get it setup and tuned into your enviroment at home. since this is off the internet you will have to go by reviews from actual consumers/servicers.

Yeah The general rule in many stores is to set up the ones that they have most of, to look real good and reduce contrast levels etc on others. Depends on which set they want you to buy.

Well Bong, when you do decide which TV you want to get, please post some pics of it when you get it all setup. I want to get a tv similar to the one above, but I'm not entirely sure yet either. That and a lack of funds at the moment. Hope you get a good TV either way! Cheers beerchug.gif

I have a 52" Samsung LCD, and it's awesome. It's a LN52A550, got it for $1899 at Circuit City about 6 weeks ago, it's already back up to about $2400 at most places. My wife's parents just got a 120hz TV, and I hate it. 120hz makes movies look terrible, it looks like a slow motion scene being played in fast forward.
