I hate Macintosh. I hate their constant bombardment of subliminal messages in the Movies and TV. Movies like Blade Trinity, Fat Albert, Sahara, Meet the Fockers etc.

For instance in the Movie Sahara all the computers used by the bad guys are thinkpads or vaios and the computers used to save the day are Macs. Movies like Fat Albert show entire classrooms filled with Macs. In reality the taxpayers would be screaming bloody murder if they had to shell out the money for the overpriced hype.

The only movie I haver ever heard Unix mentioned was in Jurassic Park.

Those aren't subliminal messages. And it's just because people think Macs look cool. Personally, I care about whats on the inside. I hate apple, yet I own two iPods, I've fallen for the iPods, and maybe the Mac Mini soon...sad.gif

That's simply product placement advertising.

Subliminal messages are designed to attract your sub-conscious, thereby would be unnoticeable in your conscious state.

Yeah, just about every movie with computers seems to have a mac for some strange reason. I didn't know they were that popular.

That's why Jurassic Park was so cool...

Screw the dinosaurs, I wanna see a fat idiot try to pass off as a programmer...

I find it funny how Apple complains about M$'s monopoly, yet Apple almost completely controls the Mac hardware and software...

I always thought its coolness was a result of the "lawyer getting eaten while on the shitter by the t-rex" scene.

There's two major differences between Apple and Microuser posted imagesoft:

1. Apple actually does innovate sometimes.
2. Apple's miniscule platform marketshare puts them in quite the underdog position.

It is funny on Slashdot though, to see people diss on Microuser posted imagesoft for something Apple would be praised for.

With their insane profit margin I am sure that it is easy to innovate. Lets not forget that Bill Gates gave Steve Jobs 350 million in order to save apple. I wonder who really owns apple?

Well I would wager that most of the Macs in movies are due to Mac's prevolence in hollyweird. A combonation of working with what they know and payments for product placement, combind with the (not as much today with os10)style over substance appeal of a mac.

Though the school thing I give them, that's fair. Why do I say that? Because of Apples donations and the whole Campbell's Labels for Education having macs but no PCs. You actualy do see a lot of macs in schools, normaly because they were given to them.

Of course they donated to the schools. Schools could build their own PC's (or linux boxes) for 200 bucks a pop and if they had the sense they could standardize their hardware making it easier to upgrade. Upgrading apple costs real money. Not to mention the fact that it made the transition to Powerschool (tons of money) seem like the only option for student data management. MS.... I mean Apple are masters in marketing.

Another classic... If only the last movies had more humor and less sheer violence...
