360 Arcade Hdmi + Optical Out Problem, arcade whith composite and hdmi cables in at teh same time! Options

HI all!

I just wat to tell you all about my problem whith getting my 360 arcade hdmi edition to give me hdmi and optical 5.1 sound at the same time.

First off all i don´t want to buy the expencive HDMI-cable so i called M$ support and asked them how you connect youre 360 arcade hdmi edition to a hd-tv with hdmi cabel and a reciver with optical in?
They told me that you need a special cabel called "only audio a/v-cabel" to use this conf.
I asked them were to buy it and they told me that all shops that sell 360 should have it so i went to the biggest technical store in my town (stockhol, sweden) and they told me that there are no sutch cable!!!
I calld back to M$ and told them my problem and they told me to go to www.microsoft.com and buy the cable from there.
I have searched on M$ whit no luck!

Anyone know about this "only audio a/v-cabel", were to buy it?

Do i have any other options then to buy the expencive HDMI-cabel?

Werry sorry to say but that cable is what I exactly not looking for!
I don´t wanna pay 50$ for a cabe I don´t need. I have a standard HDMI cable from the 360 and i need optical audio from the other port....

Hello mate I know exactly what you mean I couldn't put both my cables in either and was well pissed after paying £30 + for a 1.3 hdmi to dvi lead for my 32" lcd

anyway there is a very cheap solution get hold of a xbox 360 scart lead you can get them for about £5. Make sure it has optical out. (I think they all do?)

Next get yourself a screwdriver and wedge it in the side of the plastic shell and force it open by twisting and pushing.



untill your left with the silver end and all the wires glued to the main part (from scart) you can pull these off completely. There is usually glue on them but it will all come off. Don't touch the optical part.
You can tape it back up with electrical tape to tidy it all up.

And there you have it your left with a tiny silver dongle withan optical port which fits perfectly next to your hdmi cable. It works perfect!

I did this whith my original cable thet came with ths 360 but that cable had no optical out.
Nice that all scart cables have optical out, did not know that!
I will buy one as soon as I have the time....
