Hello everyone, I need some advice on how to update my tsop bios.

I have recently purchased a new xbox1 for me, as I fried my old xbox's mobo.
My old xbox had a modchip that was flashed with a bios (don't remember wich one) that supported higher capacity HDDs, and to go with it I installed a 320GB HDD, wich I choose to lock back then.

My "new" xbox seems to be a 1.0 version (cooler over the GPU heat sink), and besides having the pink Evox shield on the boot screen, it didn't have a modchip inside.
After some tests, I found that it was TSOP flashed, and although I was able to format an 80GB on it, my old 320GB (locked) drive didn't work on it.

When I try to boot my new xbox with the old 320GB HDD, it gives me error 13, and when I try to boot from an AID disc I have around (works flawlesly with any other HDD) it gives me error 21.

I belive the TSOP bios in it is very old, and doesn't support my 320GB (not sure though), so I wanted to reflash my TSOP with a newer bios, capable of handling my 320GB HD.

What should I do?

Try to update the TSOP bios (if possible)?
Try to install my old modchip in this new console?
Softmod?

If the disk was locked on your old Xbox then you have to unlock it before you can use it on the new Xbox. If you have the eeprom from the old Xbox you can use that with xboxhdm. If not then you can try atapwd (xboxhdm option 4) with one of the master passwords (XBOXSCENE or TEAMASSEMBLY).

I wonder why it gave me an error 13 then, the error code for not being able to unlock the HDD is 6, isn't it?

Isn't the TSOP mod able to unlock the HDD?
As my 320GB HDD was formated after the modchip was installed, I belive it's probably locked with one of the master passwords.

You have a modded bios, could be affecting the priority of error codes. If you know it is locked you need to unlock it, your xbox doesn't know how to use a master password.

Xboxhdm worked!
I used the option Reset with Master Password, and the HDD accepted TEAMASSEMBLY as the password.

But again, it's no use, my xbox now returns error 16 (dash error) when I boot with no disc in the drive.
And when I try to boot my AID cd, it just stops at the XBOX Microsoft logo.

When I try to run a dvd-r game, it returns error 21.

What could be the problem now?

AID is hanging at the Xbox logo because your Xbox can't read the disc. Use HeXEn instead of AID (Google Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc), and burn it to DVD-R because they are the most universally readable. If it still doesn't boot then you need to swap your DVD drive for another Xbox one.

I've alredy done that.

I switched the old Thomson drive with my Philips one, and it does boot my Aid normally with any other HDD.

I just formated a 320GB SATA notebook HDD on it and it worked flawlessly.

Gonna try the Hexen DVD though.

BTW, just out of curiosity, is there any program capable of reading the original xbox's HDD on the PC?
I know there are things like that for the X360, but never heard of one for the xbox1.

Check and if necessary change the master / slave jumpers on your drive.

Xplorer360 will read Xbox 1 drives. Xplorer360 beta 6 definitely works, but you may also want to try later versions.

I tried Xplorer360 and it would not see my HDD, so I just booted Xboxhdm again and repeated the unlock proccess, this time going to the "disable with master password" option too.

After that I plugged it in my xbox again and it booted the AID normally, so I proceeded to remove any previous dashboard and re-install XBMC.
Now it works like a charm.

Thanks for the help guys! =P

I always forget to tell people to do that - disable the lock, don't just unlock it. Xplorer360 should now also see the drive.

Make sure you format any partitions > 256GB with XBPArtitioner 1.1 (HeXEn would have done that for you automatically....... smile.gif ), and check the cluster sizes (see the link in my signature for details).
