i dont have a mod chip yet. but i would like to know what they can do. i have seen a short clip of a person using a mod chip and he was able to pull up a menu and turn on and off cheats. can you tell me more about this

Try the xbox newbie forum.
This is the next gen console 'xbox 360' newbie forum.

Anyways, the menu you speak of will be a trainer. It alters datastream code hex values to something you require. E.g ammo is always at a set value or all weapons.

Yes you need a mod chip or softmod (not chipping and no need to open you box but = no live.).

Read the tutorials on the main page (www.xbox-scene.com) and find a newbie's guide to modding the xbox. There you will find all the answers you are looking for.
