well i do belive we will get to the point where it will look better then life but that will set it aside from reality,im jus worried that this gen will be so real they will ban games like gta from the country

this is also something I have thought about stupid cenosors are bad now with current gen graphics when something is photorealistic and getting its head blown off what are they gonna do, the next gen we are gonna see alot more M games i belive and tighter regulations put in place, maybe even the first Ao games on a console...

OK now on a first read that does sound really stupid but believe it or not I was contemplating "more than real" media earlier today while at the gym.

There was some old football;l footage on the TV and I was thinking about how often movies will "emulate" old TV footage and they're able to create it such a away that it perfectly matches what we remember the old footage looking like rather than what it actually looked like. They reporduce the overall look and sound but enhance key colors, give it greater clarity, etc in the same way our minds eye exaggerates the things we remember...

In that case I think it's entirely possible for us to reach a point where our Virtual Reality becomes more of an enhanced and polished version of our actual Reality making the real world pale in comparison


but fuck I don't think I'll see that before I die

HOW OLD ARE YOU??? Only 10 years ago I was in awe of wipeout, thinking nothing could ever beat it.

I think the next interesting progression will be feeling the game. I can't wait till my console simulates a street racing game where I can feel the 'g's

Don't get me wrong, I love XBOX, but I think the PlayStation 4 will blow all the other game systems away and put MS Game Studios and Nintendo out of business. Sony just got a patent that was described as "Seeing, feeling, hearing, tasting, and smelling the game. It beams ultrasonic beams into your brain and also could help blind and deaf people. A spokesperson said "Think of living GTA and smelling the burning rubber."

How many years will it be before sufficient testing has been performed to convince government to allow such product for sale... Also who's to say the technology will remain Sony exclusive. The Xbox plays DVDs... a Sony technology... Just because Sony invented it doesn't mean they'll know how to use it best (after all the Xbox plays DVDs much better than the PS2 does)...

Just some food for thought.

I would let them "beam shit in my head." Plus Sony would be the only people to use it for at least the first year it comes out, unless M$ steals the technology from them. And Sony won't give them their technology like they did with DVDs.

If you actually read the article there is nothing there other than an idea...no product has been made or is known how to be made...maybe by the time PS9 is ready this tech will be close to testing but that is doubtful...PS4 please...

I was about to post about how movies already look better than reality.. but Twisted summed that up better than I could have.

About brain waves, this has been possible (in a basic way) since the 60s.. And I'm pretty sure MS had a patent for it before the original Xbox came out.

If you give a corporation direct access to your brain, what do you think they will do?

You will never buy a non-$ony product again for the rest of your life.
You will feel a need to buy games you don't even like. To buy doubles of things you already have. You will dream $ony commercials.
Corporations want money. Period. If your life gets better in the process, they don't mind. If your life is reduced to misery THEY DON"T CARE.

Remember the "jaggies" in PS2 graphics? Imagine how tech-flaws FEEL inside your head?
Imagine "dying" in your favourite game. What if it screws you up psychologically?

I'll stick to external games. I'll create my own emotions. I will make my own decisions.

I don't trust $ony with my mind because $ony only wants one thing from me.
