i have an 2008 xbox360 and i have the key for the dvd drive but i dont know what make of drive was in the xbox360 to start with is there any way of knowing what drive the xbox360 originally came with as my mother has thrown the old one away

Benq drives were introduced in 2007 and replaced by Liteon DG16D2S in 2008. So theres a good chance it was the Liteon. You also say you have the key did you not have a JF log or similar saved with it because that will give you the answer you require.

no the OFW and JF log are long gone. but you were right about it being a liteon drive i took a liteon out of my jasper and it worked no bother
