MTKFLASH: myth: all sata/ide devices has to be disconnected.... FALSE! I have flashed several drives (ms28/ms25) with all my devices(1 SATA HD, 1 IDE HD, 1 IDE DVD-R) connected, infact I have now just taken in use an external sata port on the back side of my shuttle computer(small box) and using an extended sata cable to hook it up to the xbox360, works like a charm.
I wanna say first off, that I always have other IDE devices connected when flashing but having all SATA/IDE devices disconnected is not a myth, it's a safeguard to stop people from flashing/dumping the wrong device.
Also on occasion it helps MtkFlash to detect the 360 drive

THE E66 problem: just open 5.2A/B/C/D firmware in Maximus Firmware Tooblox 3.0, insert your key, and also make it spoof as a MS28 firmware, thats all.
Why on earth would you spoof an MS25 drive to identify itself as an MS28 unless your 360 originally had an MS28 drive in it. This is the exact reason a lot of e66 errors occur.

THE MAGIC METHOD: there are several different types of methods listed, but this one works 100% and im gonna try to explain it as easy as possible:
-Boot up in dos with USB Key
-write: mtkflash r /m orig.bin.... dont hit enter yet, turn on the xbox360, then when the ring starts blinking, hit enter... most likely the first time its just gonna show IDE device, so press F3 and do it again, now its gonna show the SATA device,
-now turn off the xbox 360, wait a while...
-now select the sata option on the MTKFLASH menu and immediatly turn on the xbox360, this method has worked with both MS25/MS28 drives, on several different chipsets(VIA/NFORCE) etc...
-patch your firmware with key and then redo the steps above for writing it back to the DVD drive...
This is really up to the individual to find what works best for them
