Ive been away for 2 weeks and missed out on loads of xbox 360 info. Im not a newb really smile.gif .

One easy, simple question....

If I was to purchase the Deluxe pack (the best one) is it provided with the correct ports and cables to support my normal (not widescreen or HD tv?).

I plan on getting a HDTV later but not now. From what I can see, it comes with a HD-AV cable. Am I right in saying this would work with normal TV's (SCART is the port here in the UK).

LOL.. they should have made it ONLY HDTV... because why would you be buying a $400 videogame system if you are still on a Non-HDTV? Instead of buying the Xbox360, maybe you should just go out and use that towards your purchase on a nice TV. tongue.gif

LOL.. What you just said is totally moronic.

1000's of customers here in the UK dont have HDTV. Actually, they cost £4000 here and have only been released recently. SKY broadcasts HDTV signals in 2006.

I would say %90 of the people who purchase an Xbox 360 in the UK have a normal TV.

Please think about what your saying before butting in wink.gif

I think im right in also saying that - with a normal TV - you get 90% of the experience.

Soon - with a HDTV - it should be 100%.

You get more than HD componet cables with the high end package. Hard drive, wireless controller, media remote. It's not like he's spending the extra money for just the cables.

I dont see much point in the cheaper version. No where near as good as the deluxe!

It's there so MS can claim that they still hit the $300 price point.

I disagree.
The only problem with normal tv's is that you get alot of jaggies and loss-of-clarity when looking into the distance. HDTV's fix this and make the game look more beautiful. I say with a normal TV - you are getting 70% of the experience, with a normal tv and dolby digital surround sound - you are getting 90% of the experience, with a HDTV - you are getting 80% of the experience, and with a HDTV and dolby digital surround sound - you are getting 100% of the experience.

Don't forget about the audio! beerchug.gif

Also, %'s might vary depending on your size preferences etc.

Anyone with out a HDtv though can get a HDtv experience for under a $100. Used svga 15" monitors sell all over the place for $20-$50 and new ones can easily be found for under a $100 if not on rebate too. Then all you need is the xbox360 to svga cable and Wa La, your enjoying a clean crisp image far better than any regular tv.

That's actually what I plan on doing.

These crt monitors are dirt cheap now. I wouldn't reccomend buying them at retail, just get one from a local factory direct store or computer shop - refurbed or off-lease.
