Where did you guys buy your Fem VGA port at? I cannot find one at any local radio shack.

Thanks

I got mine at Fry's Electronics. It had a female port on one side, and bare pins on the other for soldering to a circuit board or whatever, or in this case to wires which go to the motherboard.

Why do this mod when u can just buy an adapter and not ruin the warranty.

Because I had the wire, soldering iron, and this tut. Also, Best Buy was a 10 minute drive laugh.gif , not to mention I saved 20+ bucks.

Exactly and the whole point of modding is to mod.. not to go out and buy something wink.gif

Because it is fun.

I found the VGA connector online at radio shack for those looking. It has the part number on the site.

Hopefully this is it. Radio Shack VGA port

Can you cut a female vga extension cable and after figuring out what cable is tied to what pin, solder them to the board?

Thanks again

Yeah you can solder the wire straight to the board, but it'd be annoying when you don't want/need to use the cable anymore.

Finally had a chance to do this mod. Picture looks beautiful. Sound is good too.
I ended putting it outside the case.

I bought some HD pins, Fem VGA D-sub connector and an insertion tool with a D-Sub crimper kit from Showmecables.com.

So much easier than soldering. I kept on screwing up the solder type so went the easy route.

Thanks again MAxx.

VGA mod

Does the VGA monitor have to support SOG in order for this to work. Or is that just for Xbox 1.

Wow that's an awesome mod.. I might just want to try this one day. This way I could use component for my games and vga for my dvd's without switching cables all the time.

Great mod. Got it installed with some old red/white 22 guage, headphone wire, desoldered vga female, and a desoldered headphone jack. I had to lower the surface on the bottom pan so I would suggest using thinner wire. This is much better than using a TV tuner.
