I don't know a whole lot about resistors and capacitors, etc etc.

Just wondering if anyone can explain the basics about resistors. For example, when hooking up a 100OHM resistor to a controller (5V positive source) what exactly will it be running at afterwards?
What happends if u don't run the resistor? will it just blow the led or will the lef fry the controller for eg.
Again im a noob on the subject and just want to get a bit more educated on the topix. I can do most of these installs with ease but I want to know exactly what im doing before performing it. I bet most people don't know what they're doing when doing these mods, just follow instructions and thats it, im opposite smile.gif

Help from the electricians and pros plz biggrin.gif

p.s does anyone have a good detailed link to determine how many ohms a resistor is?

thx guys

Resistors limit current. Without a resistor, too much current will flow through the LED and blow it out. To find out how many ohms a resistor is, you can use the bands of color it has. There's lots of guides around to determine that, try google.

In fact.... HERE IS ALL YOUR ANSWERS.
