Question About Softmod (what Game Versions To Use) Options

ive been looking at the softmod tutorial here

it says u can use any of these 3 games

# Mechassault (Has to be the original version, You can tell what version you have by the laser etching on the back, if you have MS02301L you have the original, if it is MS02308L you have the new version which will not work.)

# Splinter Cell

# 007 - Agent Under Fire

my question is can it be any version of SC and 007 or only certain ones like the mechassault?

**also can i softmod my 1.6 xbox cause that tutorial only says 1-1.5***

for 007, you'll need the older version....i've heard rumors that one of the newer versions of SC will work...but it'd be a risk. get the oldest version of any of those games you can find.

yes, you can softmod a 1.6. instead of following that tutorial though, download krayzie's UXE installer from the usual places and use that installer instead of Ltools.

also how to i tell if its the old versions of the games? i know obviously dont get the greatest hits ones

there are numbers on the inner ring of the discs....i know that somebody mentioned it somewhere but i forget where....perhaps try searching for it?

general rule of thumb, if it wasn't platinum hits, then it should work. (though i've heard that the mech assault from the LIVE package won't work).

i've heard that the action replay can corrupt gamesaves, but i have an AR card and have never had any problems with it. i think it's the luck of the draw...if your card doesn't work, perhaps you can beg/borrow/steal an MS one to use.

check my sig for what versions of 007 work (all non platinum copies work)

MA must be the first version, the second one (with the GOTY badge on the case) was patched, as is the platinum versions

AFAIK all versions of SC work
