I was generalling inspecting my 360 motherboard after I took it apart to attempt to fix the e74 message myself. I know basic things about sodering and how electronics work so I thaught, what the hell. Using my brians, and other peoples helpful documents and videos I successfully got this thing totally disassembled. However, while cleaning the GPU, I noticed a sound coming from somewherre on my motherboard. You would think it would be easy to track down and identify exactly where it is coming from but it was incredably difficult. Ive narrowed it down and identified the possible pieces despite the lack of 360 schematics on the web.

Firstly, the sound sounds like something came loose like a small screw trapped in a small metal box. Now, when my 360 was only taken apart halfway I thaught that was exactly what it was. To my surprice, at 100% complete dismantle, everything was exposed and seperated but the sound was still there when I shook the board. If the front of the console is facing you, with the USB inputs facing you and placed on the right, the sound comes from
*the bottom, left quadrant. Or the close left quadrant. (IE memory cord slots, hard drive slot, and eject button I believe. *

Its still hard to tell where the rattle is from, but my guess is between the hard drive female sata slot on the motherboard, or a small black boox with 4 jumpers extruding to the right which im not sure what it is (Relay perhaps for eject button) I think it is the hard drive female sata connector

THIS IS MY QUESTION. Could a bad female connector like that cause an error like the one I have been getting. Something is definatly rattling around in there. If so, how do I replace it, or circumvent it. Anyway, its now time for me to put the console back togather....wish me luck.

Its completely normal.. That sound is the part of the motherboard that "tells" the 360 its orientation (Horizontal & Vertical)..
