Can't Find Psp Firmware Version Options

Hi

I recently bought a PSP (last week) and I'd like to get a custom firmware and some homebrew software running on it (mainly emulators). However, I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle because my system information doesn't show it. All it shows is the system software (version 3.60), my nickname and the PSP's MAC address. Does this give an indication of the system's firmware version or is there another way of finding out the firmware version so I can get some custom firmware on there?

Also, having scoured the internet finding out how to get some homebrew running on my PSP, what is the difference between a 'fat' and 'slim' PSP? I'm new to all of this jargon, and I know this is a good board for finding out because this forum helped me through every step of modding my Xbox

To find out what firmware your PSP is currently running go to Settings->System Settings->System Information->System Software->This will display the current firmware version and in your case its 3.60. You're going to need to use the Pandora's battery method to downgrade your PSP. From what I've been reading it seems you no longer need another hacked PSP to make one. Just solder bridge a connection on the battery circuit board and you're half way there.

The main difference between the fat and slim PSP is pretty obvious. Other than that the slim has improved features like tv out, better battery life, better button layout + it no longer has the IR sensor. From a software point of view the fat PSP is still the best for homebrew.

Cheers - so I just need the Pandora's battery hack. I've found this website - does anyone know how this works because I don't want to be screwing around with a PSP battery, plus I don't have a fat PSP to hand in order to try it
