I have a Xbox, manufactured July 03, BIOS has been flashed with Evox. Xbox was supplied with a Thomson TGM600 DVDROM and I have replaced the HDD with Maxtor 200Gb.

I have tried to swap the DVD ROM with a Samsung SDG-605 but when I boot the xbox I get the 12 Service Required error. This is rectified by replacing the original DVD.

Any suggestions as to what could be causing this? Obviously some sort of compatibility problem but how do I fix it?

Thanks

Blueboy

DVD drives can be replaced with any stock version although error 12 does point to the drive.

Was the Thomson working before you swapped it? Was there power to the drive etc?

Can confirm the Thomson DVD drive both works before I removed it and replaced with the Samsung drive and also when I reinstall it. Can further confirm that I have power to the DVD drive as using the same power cable....also using the same IDE cable and have tried different power and IDE cables. sad.gif

Know of others who have swapped drives without problems so not sure what next
