I'm an novice flasher - only done my Samsung once at home about 12 months ago.

I just offered to flash my brother's old xbox, its a Benq VAD6038 and I used X360USB Pro, Xecuter CK3 Lite and Jungle Flasher. His console was banned from xbox live a while ago.

His drive was already flashed with ixtreme 1.6

I followed the Jungleflasher tutorial to update the firmware to LT +, it seemed to go flawlessly.

Reconnected the xbox to test and put in a new game (FIFA 13). It beacame apparent he had not updated his dashboard for a long time (?? >1 yr). FIFA 13 stated a dash update was required but not possible (no network connection to the xbox at this time. I tried an older game (Dirt 3) and it attempted to update the dash from the disk. As it was attempting to update, it stated there was not enough HDD space (I had left the HDD off). I then turned the xbox off, connected the HDD and turned it back on.... TO GET THE RROD (three red lights at 12, 6 and 9 o'clock).

Is this really RROD - and will I need to get someone to fix it?

Was it caused by the dashboard update? Something else??

I'd love to be able to fix this problem (I feel like I broke my brother's xbox). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The Rrod may have been caused by the update.

My advice: restore the original firmware on the benq. Update from a USB flash drive (get the update at the MS website) After the update is complete, flash to LT+3.0

Good luck.
