Hi all,

I have read numerours posts on how to setup Xbox live using my laptop as a wireless adapter, i.e. connecting the Xbox to the ethernet port of my laptop. Now I have followed the instructions in terms of checking the box on my laptop wireless connection to allow sharing. I have also added the following ports to the firewall on my laptop and opened the ports in my wireless router: UDP: 53, 88, 3074 & TCP: 50, 80, 3074.

Now when I go to the System Test Xbox Live connection it passes the, Network Adapter, Wired, IP Address, DNS, MTU, ICMP but when it gets to XBOX LIVE it says an update is required. I select Update Now, however after a certain amount of time it fails saying it couldn't download the update. I'm now lost what to do to resolve this issue. Any help will be greatly received biggrin.gif

Here's my setup:

VirginMedia Broadband connected to a modem. The modem is then connected to a wireless Linksys WRT54GS router. This router is connected to the ethernet port of my desktop PC (all of which is located upstairs). I now have my laptop downstairs connecting wireless to the internet and I have connected the Ethernet port of my laptop to the ethernet port of the Xbox.

On my laptop when I type 'ipconfig' in a command prompt here's what it says:

Ethernet Local Area:
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Deafult Gateway:

Ethernet Wireless:
IP: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Now on my Xbox it is:
Automatic:
IP: 192.168.0.232
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Any ideas what might be wrong given it passes the initial tests as noted previously?

Please help uhh.gif
Thanks
Colin
