I Am Just About To Give Up!, Can I get some one on one help? Options

Well I have installed my X3CE chip and that is about as far as it goes. I have been reading and reading about how to do this mod stuff and I dont think I am getting it! All I want to do is save a game or two on the HDDand I also want to put a larger HDD in the box. I am installing the xbox in my trunk and I dont want to have to go to my trunk to change games.

Is there any one out there willing to tell me step by step how to do this mod? I know my way around a computer but this stuff for some reason is just not making much sense to me.

I can compensate for the help.

flash the x3 bios. use an autoinstaller (slayers or aid) to install your hdd/apps. make sure to lock the hdd afterwards if you plan on using it without your chip ever.

first what dashboard do you have? evox, unleashx???? others? and i wouldnt try replacing the hard drive i tried and now i get error 6

unless you plan on replacing it with a hdd locked to a code other than your mobo, i would ignore this

you can easily put a new hdd in your xbox and use an autoinstaller to set it up.

1) you have softmod, he has chip - 2 different things

2) you made 2 of the the biggest noob mistakes:

NEVER UNLOCK YOUR HDD

ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR EEPROM

@MaximusZTS you can easily upgrade your HDD, with a chip, so ignore this guys comments.

You don't have a chip? Or am I wrong?

As far as I know, your screwed. You have an unlocked HD and no eeprom, so yeah, a chip is the only way your going to fix that xbox. There is no point in locking the HD, it would be locked with a different code. Get a chip and put it in and then your xbox will work again. IN THE FUTURE BACKUP YOUR EEPROM

See all this stuff^^^ makes no sense to me. I have gone through that tut and now am more lost that before. I did however manage to DL some files from #xbins What I DL'ed and what I do with them are a mystery to me. Slayers? aid? Lock my HDD?

do one thing at a time. download the x3 bios. use the right one for your xbox motherboard (read the changelog). choose a method of flashing from that guide and flash it.

Yes, you can take your friends eeprom chip and desolder it and put it in your XBOX... BUT you can only use his HD and not yours... Helps a lot doesn't it?

You unlocked the drive, you must pay the price of a chip to fix it, there is no other way.

EDIT: I half bite my tongue on that though, there is one way. You have to find a friend with a chip. A chip will allow you to boot an unlocked HD (remember a softmod doesn't, but you know that now), BUT THE ONLY WAY THIS WILL WORK IS IF YOU DID BACKUP THE EEPROM TO THE HD, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ON THE PC. This will work because the chip will boot the HD since it's not locked, and then you can browse the HD and find the eeprom backup (if you made one), then you use Config Magic in the chip box to change the eeprom to yours and then lock it, or use XBOXHDM on your PC to lock it (only with the eeprom though)

Where is the change log?

X3 3294.bin is for v1.0 - v1.5 Xbox Versions
X3 3294 v16plus.bin is for v1.6/v1.6b Xbox Versions.

thats all you need to know from that.

Okay I have been re-reading some of the tuts.So with this bios I can back up games? (X3 3294 v16plus.bin)

But even after my re-reading I still do not know how to get X3 3294 v16plus.bin on to my box.

Do I need a dashboard too? or are those for show?
