Well I hate to break this to you. But DVDs are basically mpegs. There mpeg-2. If you want to make them that much smaller you'll have to go with divx or something. or convert them to mpeg-1. But you will lose video quality.

And I still don't see how this is xbox related.

While we're on the subject of AutoGK, and since this thread is likely to be deleted (with good reason) soon, I'm just wondering... What all do you actually need to install when you run the AutoGK setup? If you install everything, you end up with like 7 programs on your pc. That's pretty hefty for just ripping a dvd. Is all that necessary to rip a DVD to an AVI.

Sorry if anyone feels like I am thread jacking...

Yes they are all necessary. You should probably enable the stand alone compatibility also. All AutoGK does is use a series of programs to get great rips. I love the program. It's nice to have true widescreen and dolby digital in my rips to watch on xbmc. So yes, this is xbox related, that's all I use it for is xbmc.

Ya I figured.

I used to use AutoGK all the time, I loved it! Then after I had reformated my pc HD's and started all over from scratch, I forgot to add AutoGK to the list I made of programs that I had to re-aquire or reinstall after I had reformated and installed Windows, so since then, I haven't had it and whenever I wanted it, I had completely forgot the name of it.

So when I read this thread, I have to admit... I yelled "woot!", lol

Ya, now I'm back to ripping dvd's to watch on my xbox using XBMC in 5.1 and 16:9. I love it!

Oh, and why should you enabled the stand alone compatibility?

Not hating or ruining it. You should just make a habit of creating threads in the correct forums. This is'nt really xbox related. It's more PC related if you ask me.
