Hey folks its been SO long since i modded my old XBOX and after buying my XBOX360 when it first came out i was to scared to modify it. So it been there collecting dust. After spinal surgery i was not able to move as much as i wanted anymore so getting up every time to change my games just got difficult. So my main question is can any one lead me in the right direction of what hardware i should get what software should i use and is it possible to back up my originals to a external device and play off of that. I am not new to dissembling the xbox or soldering i just need to be pointed to the right direction to start. Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong spot and please forgive me for asking too much but like i said in the beginning just trying to make life just a little easier on my spine. unsure.gif

Hey mate,

I have only just got back into it too, but I bought mine modded and only had to install a new dashboard.

I'd advise what model X-box 360 you have and it's MFR Date so someone can point you in the right direction, as this will determine what type of mod you will need. As far as I am aware it's more than likely you will need to have your x-box's harware modified in some way (RGH/JTag) in order to play off the hard drive. There is also an X-K3y USB option but this will depend on your model.

The X-box I bought was Jtag'd and from there I was able to load Dashlaunch 2.32 and FreestyleDash 2.2 onto a new 320 gb hard drive. From there all you have to do is copy your games over to the hard drive.

Some very useful tutorials I have found are:

http://digiex.net/downloads/download-cente...ex-options.html

(Highly recommend: http://digiex.net/ for any questions, InsaneNutter there is very helpful and quick to answer questions)

Thank you so much for the reply. I have one of the very first dull black XBOX360 MFR Date - 2007-06-19 from what the label reads. I haven't updated in months if that means anything and god know my account is dead LOL but but its still in great working condition and i keep its clean and healthy i really want to do this my self because i really don't want to shell out for another XBOX360. I have the halo reach limited edition in the bed room an i don't want to modify that one. But this black on is in the living room making it harder to reach and an get up back and forth to change games if i can play from the hard drive great if i can play from any other external device even better. But again thank you for the info and what ever else you can help me with. I plan to try to tackle this in the morning cause I am afraid it will suck me in when the first XBOX was modified and i got so wrapped up in it it took over my life for about three years. LOL

I think you would really enjoy an Xkey. I've been using one since December and really enjoy it. Get an external hard drive (I got a 2tb verbatim for $149 and used a $25 off coupon at Staples) and you're set.
